So a couple weeks ago, I took a trip down to Tucson to visit some friends and climb on an A-10 for the first time in 10+ years. While I was down there, some of my friends were gearing up to leave on a deployment. Which was funny to us because they kept being told they were standing down. Well, they didn't know exactly where they were going, but now we do.

Something A-10 related that I came across this week. You might find it interesting.
The U.S. Air Force manipulated casualty data to make the A-10 attack aircraft appear more hazardous than it really is, according to a watchdog group.
The service "cherry-picked" information on civilian casualties and friendly fire deaths in Afghanistan, making it look as though the aging gunship is responsible for killing more American troops and Afghan civilians than any other warplane, according to the Project on Government Oversight in Washington, D.C.

Wait a minute — isn't an attack plane supposed to be hazardous? At least to the enemy.

Yep, I read that. If there was a valid, working replacement, I'd be alright with the A-10s retirement. However, what they're trying to replace it with is neither working or valid. Stop skewing the numbers Big Blue, and give the guys on the ground what they need!

Sometimes, you need a Bowie knife, not a Swiss Army knife.
